Heather Martin started the business in 2015, after several years in newspaper and magazine writing and editing, freelance writing, organizational development curriculum writing, and internal communications content creation. Brian Martin began his career in educational publishing, taught high school English for twenty years, then joined Heather full time at Martin Ink in 2022.

If they’re not editing and writing, the Martins are probably knee-deep in a home renovation project, hanging out with their son, having dinner with friends, or traveling. 

Brian may also be in the kitchen experimenting with a new recipe or in the garage tinkering with their 1988 Jeep Wrangler. 

In Heather’s free time, she takes ballroom dancing lessons and performs in community theatre productions. She also co-owns a home organizing service (which is like editing, just with people’s stuff) called Breathing Room.
